Prof Apostolos Davillas

We are pleased to welcome Prof Apostolos Davillas as DAAD Visiting Professor at the UDE!

Professor Apostolos Davillas will be a visiting professor at our faculty from April until the end of the summer term 2025. He is a microeconomist with a strong interest in the application of econometric methods to analyse health economic issues as well as topics in human capital economics, well-being, public finance and behavioural economics.

His research covers a broad spectrum - from the determinants of individual health, the demand for health services and the use of medical care to the associated public expenditure and the economics of risky behaviour. Another focus of his work is the measurement of health in survey data, particularly with regard to the role of measurement error in health and labour economics research.

Professor Davillas publishes regularly in renowned journals such as the Journal of Health Economics, Health Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organisation, Energy Economics, Economics Letters, Review of Income and Wealth, Social Science & Medicine and Economics & Human Biology. For his scientific contributions, he was honoured with the "Distinguished Author Award" of the journal Health Economics in 2022.

The Visiting Professors Programme is funded by the UDE and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). As part of the programme, renowned professors from abroad will come to UDE for one semester at a time to promote the internationalisation of teaching.
